Detailed Description

Precipitation intensity level, shading orientation and coordinate system.

Format:

Variable length Data Item comprising a first part of one octet, followed by one-octet extents as necessary

Structure (First Part):

• Bit 8 (ORG): Coordinate system (0=Local, 1=System)
• Bits 7-5 (I1/I2/I3): Intensity level (range 0 to 7)
• Bits 4-2 (S1/S2/S3): Shading orientation with respect to North:
  • 000 = 0 deg
  • 001 = 22.5 deg
  • 010 = 45 deg
  • 011 = 67.5 deg
  • 100 = 90 deg
  • 101 = 112.5 deg
  • 110 = 135 deg
  • 111 = 157.5 deg
• Bit 1 (FX): Field extension indicator

Structure (First Extent):

• Bits 8-4: Spare bits set to 0
• Bit 3 (TST): Test vector (0=Default, 1=Test)
• Bit 2 (ER): Error condition (0=Default, 1=Error)
• Bit 1 (FX): Field extension indicator

Note

For polar vectors, bits 4-2 are meaningless and set to zero
